Portslade is two settlements sharing a name: the old village inland to the north, and Portslade-by-Sea along the water, which was Copperas Gap until it became an urban district in 1898. The seaward half holds the eastern basin of Shoreham Port and what the record calls the industrial centre of Brighton and Hove. Most of what we open comes from there.

BN41 is half in Adur and half in the city. Does that change anything?
Not here. The postcode does straddle two district areas, and its post town is Brighton rather than Portslade, but the price and the route to the bench are identical from either side of that line.
What do I do with a controller card out of a machine?
Lift it out, put it in an antistatic bag inside a rigid box, and write down which machine and which slot it came from. Cards like that are read on Rusolut and PC-3000 tooling, not on a disk imager.
Can you read the disk out of our yard's own recorder?
Usually. Send the disk rather than the recorder, and say which system wrote it. A server or a RAID set comes in the same way, as bare disks labelled by bay, though an external in its own enclosure or a NAS can travel whole.
What does a Portslade job cost?
Nothing to look at it, and the quote is fixed and written before we open anything. A card or a stick is £250 and upwards, one drive £300, a recorder £400, multi-disk work £500 and upwards, with VAT added to each.
