We have replaced all the failed heads on that drive with matched donor parts and then made images of the drive past where it was damaged. We have also built every single album using the copied image.
We first made complete images of both disks before anything else. Next, we put those images together into a single virtual disk. Finally, the shared drive was returned whole from the virtual disk.
We made an exact copy of the memory card before using any recovery tools. We rebuilt the file system on that copy. And then we carved out every single frame from that copy at full resolution.
This particular video recording device had been continuously looping for nine days. We made an image of its disk by imaging it forensically. We parsed the index of the video files. We determined which sectors the loop had not yet reached and recovered the incident window from those sectors.
Court and investigations
While some cases may end with just recovering your files, others will end in either an insurance claim, a tribunal or a courtroom. We provide both the recovery and preservation of your digital evidence to forensic standards: this means that we make an image of the disk in a read-only manner, document everything about the process and report accordingly so that the recovered data can stand up in court.
