Our drive was damaged, not just worn out — still worth sending?

Can you read a RAID set out of a small server?
Yes. Send the disks bare, each labelled with its bay number, and leave the chassis where it is. Multi-disk work starts at £500 + VAT, quoted in writing before anything begins.
What should we do before posting it?
Stop using the drive. Don't run anything else on it, and leave the repair utilities alone. Power it down, write down what it did and when, and put the shipping form in the box.
